قولا منوطا بعرى الصدق
Say to Abu Imran, companion of harm,
words bound to the bonds of truth:
تبقىremain الأحاديثthe tales ويمضيand passes away الفتىthe young man
تبقى الأحاديث ويمضي الفتى
فقلso tell لهto him ماas long as شاءhe wishes فليبقso let him remain
فقل له ما شاء فليبق
Tales remain, while the young man passes away;
so tell him: let him remain as long as he wishes.
