ما دام عنك الزمانُ راضي

Hasten to pardon, and seize the opportunity,

Hasten to revelry and make the most of it,

while Time still smiles upon you.

As long as Time is pleased with you.

وانظر ببستاننا وصُنْهُ

وانظر ببستاننا وصُنْهُ

عن كل وغدٍ وكلِّ فاضِ

عن كل وغدٍ وكلِّ فاضِ

Look upon our garden, and guard it

And look at our garden and protect it

from every knave and every idler.

From every scoundrel and every idler.

ففي الذي قلتَه صوابٌ

ففي الذي قلتَه صوابٌ

يا حسن ذا القولِ وهو ماضِ

يا حسن ذا القولِ وهو ماضِ

For what I have said is sound—

For there is sound judgment in what you said:

how fine this counsel is, and how compelling.

How fine this saying is—and how incisive!
