رِ أُلِّفَ فوق أَطباقِه
When the stock flower is many-hued,
When the many-colored stock-flower
behold how its layers are joined within it:
is arranged upon its platters,
تلوَّنtook on color ليfor me بياضُthe whiteness of الجthe air (first part)
تلوَّن لي بياضُ الج
وّcompletion of 'the air' فيin ألوانِthe colors of أوراقِهits petals
وّ في ألوانِ أوراقِه
to me, the whiteness of the air took on color,
to my eyes, the whiteness of the air takes on
wearing the colors of its petals.
