نَؤُومُa habitual sleeper الضّحىthe late morning أُهْبُhides القَنافِذِof hedgehogs عندَهُto him
نَؤُومُ الضّحى أُهْبُ القَنافِذِ عندَهُ
إذاwhen ماan emphatic particle عَراهُovertakes him النّومُsleep أُهْبُhides الثّعالِبِof foxes
إذا ما عَراهُ النّومُ أُهْبُ الثّعالِبِ
A late-morning sleeper—to him, hedgehog hides,
I nap at dawn while the hedgehogs sleep
when sleep overtakes him, are fox hides.
When sleep escapes them, I nap like the foxes
