وأخذنا أهبةَ الكمَدِ

They made ready for the journey,

They prepared him for the journey

زعموا أن الفراق غداً

They claimed that parting would be tomorrow,

They claimed that the separation is tomorrow

And the soul's departure comes the day after tomorrow.
