أباO father of محمدٍMuhammad المكسوَّthe one clothed نُورَlight علاًeminence
لمhas not يَكْسُهُclothe in it اللهُGod شمساًa sun ولاnor قمراa moon
O Abu Muhammad, clothed in a light of eminence
O Abu Muhammad, you who are clothed in light
with which God has clothed neither sun nor moon:
Allah has not clothed you with sun or moon
هَبْكَsuppose you استترتَhid yourself للاfor no معنىًreason فخيرُكَbut your bounty ياO
منone who كانwas بالخيرِin doing good مسروراًdelighted لمwhy استتراhid itself
Suppose you hid for no reason; but your bounty, O
It is as if you have concealed from Allah a meaning, so the best thing for you, O you who rejoice in good, is not to conceal
you who delighted in doing good—why has it hidden itself?
Just as you have hidden from my eyes, so you are not seen
كماjust as تغيَّبْتَyou vanished عنfrom عينيmy eye فلستَso you are not تُرىseen
كذاlikewise تغيَّبَit vanished عنfrom عينيmy eye فليسَso it is not يُرىseen
Just as you vanished from my sight and are not seen,
So has He who made a pact with me that nothing
so it too vanished from my sight and is not seen.
Of what I was promised will accrue to me hidden from my eyes, so he is not seen
مَنْwhoever كانhad بَايَعَwagered أنيthat I ليسَnot يحصلُis obtained ليfor me
مماof what وَعِدْتُI was promised بهwith it شيءanything فقدso indeed قَمَراwon the wager
Whoever wagered that I would not receive
anything of what I was promised has indeed won his wager.
