دُونَ حُسنِ الكانُونِ في كانُونِ
All that is pleasing to the eyes
Everything seems beautiful in the eyes
Falls short of the brazier’s beauty in Kanun.
Except the beauty of December in December
حُسْنُbeauty of خَدِّcheek of المَعشوقِthe beloved فيهِin it وفيهِand in it
حُسْنُ خَدِّ المَعشوقِ فيهِ وفيهِ
حَرُّheat of أحشاءِentrails of عاشِقٍa lover مَحزُونِsorrowful
حَرُّ أحشاءِ عاشِقٍ مَحزُونِ
In it is the beauty of the beloved’s cheek, and in it
The beauty of the cheeks of the beloved is in it and in it
The heat of a sorrowful lover’s entrails.
Is the heat of the grieving lover's intestines
