    Today, O Hashimi, is a day

    Whose garment is dew and mist.

    Quwayq has celebrated at our festival,

    And the clouds have anointed its face with saffron perfume.

    Saffron has not given the hue that

    Earth has given to its waters.

    Its waves course like horses,

    Chestnut-colored, making their way through its midst.

    قد برد الماءُ والشَّراب

    So hasten to drink before the chance is lost;

    The water and the wine have cooled.
