وَهَل أَسوى بَراقِشُ حينَ أَسوى

وَهَل أَسوى بَراقِشُ حينَ أَسوى

بِبَلقَعَةٍ وَمُنبَسِطٍ أَنيقِ

بِبَلقَعَةٍ وَمُنبَسِطٍ أَنيقِ

And did Baraqish fall into ruin, when it fell into ruin,

Does Baraqish grieve when she grieves

In a barren waste and a lovely open plain?

With a skullcap and outspread carpet, elegant,

وَحَلّوا مِن مَعينٍ يَومَ حَلّوا

وَحَلّوا مِن مَعينٍ يَومَ حَلّوا

لِعِزِّهِمُ لَدى الفَجِّ العَميقِ

لِعِزِّهِمُ لَدى الفَجِّ العَميقِ

And from Ma'in they came to settle, on the day they settled,

And they camped one day they camped

By virtue of their might, beside the deep mountain pass.

For their glory, by the deep ravine
