بَنيّ المُصطَفى يا غاية القَصد وَالمُنى

بَنيّ المُصطَفى يا غاية القَصد وَالمُنى

نَزَلنا بِكُم إِذ مَسنا الضر وَالعَنا

نَزَلنا بِكُم إِذ مَسنا الضر وَالعَنا

O sons of the Chosen One, the ultimate goal of seeking and longing,

O Family of Mustafa, O ultimate goal and desire

We lodged with you when affliction and hardship touched us.

We have come to you when affliction and adversity touched us

نَقول وَخَطب الدَهر في الحال إِن دَنا

نَقول وَخَطب الدَهر في الحال إِن دَنا

حسين إِذا ما ضاقَ رَحب مِن الدنا

حسين إِذا ما ضاقَ رَحب مِن الدنا

We say at once, should time's calamity draw near:

We say, and the affairs of time are difficult right now

Husayn, whenever the world's wide expanse grows narrow,

Hussein, whenever a vast plain becomes constricted

وَحَل بِنا لِلفادِحات نزول

وَحَل بِنا لِلفادِحات نزول

بِجاهك عذنا وَالأُمور عَسيرة

بِجاهك عذنا وَالأُمور عَسيرة

And crushing calamities descend upon us,

And we were struck by grave calamities

Through your standing we sought refuge, though matters were difficult;

Through your status may we be forgiven, though matters are difficult

فَما هِيَ إِلا فذة وَيَسيرة

فَما هِيَ إِلا فذة وَيَسيرة

وَإِن عرضت يَوماً خطوب خَطيرة

وَإِن عرضت يَوماً خطوب خَطيرة

So they are but a single, easy matter.

They are but a single tragedy, and an easy one

And if grave calamities should arise one day,

And if one day truly perilous afflictions occur

بِقَبرك لذنا وَالقُبور كَثيرة

بِقَبرك لذنا وَالقُبور كَثيرة

وَلَكن من يَحمي النَزيل قَليل

وَلَكن من يَحمي النَزيل قَليل

At your grave we sought refuge, though graves are many;

Through your grave we seek forgiveness, though graves are many

And yet those who protect the guest are few.

But those who protect the visitor are few
