هَنيئاًCongratulations! فَإِنfor indeed الدَهرtime يَزهوis resplendent وَيزهرand blossoms
هَنيئاً فَإِن الدَهر يَزهو وَيزهر
بعرسat the wedding عليAli وَالعَوالمand the worlds تفخرtake pride
بعرس علي وَالعَوالم تفخر
Congratulations! For time is resplendent and blossoms
Congratulations! For time blossoms and flourishes
At Ali's wedding, and the worlds take pride.
With Ali's wedding, and the worlds take pride
بِناءa marital union بنىbuilt فَوقabove المَجرةthe Milky Way مَنزِلاًa dwelling
بِناء بنى فَوق المَجرة مَنزِلاً
إِلىtoward قَصرهhis palace بهرامBahram يَرنوgazes وَيَنظرand looks
إِلى قَصره بهرام يَرنو وَيَنظر
A marital union has built a dwelling above the Milky Way,
He built, above the galaxy, a home
Toward his palace Bahram gazes and looks.
To which Bahram aspires, gazing with hope
وَعُرسand a wedding بِهِthrough it طابَgrew sweet الوجودexistence كَأَنَّماas though
وَعُرس بِهِ طابَ الوجود كَأَنَّما
عَلىupon أَنفهits nose مِنfrom طيبsweetness نَشركyour fragrance عَنبرambergris
عَلى أَنفه مِن طيب نَشرك عَنبر
And a wedding through which existence grew sweet, as though
The being is fragranced by his wedding, as though
Upon its nose lay ambergris from your sweet fragrance.
Ambergris its nose had perfumed and spread
وَمظهرand a display بُشرىgood news فيamong الوَرىhumankind طابَwas sweet نَشرهاits fragrance
وَمظهر بُشرى في الوَرى طابَ نَشرها
وَفيand within طَيهاits folds يَبدوappears السُرورjoy وَينشرand spreads
وَفي طَيها يَبدو السُرور وَينشر
And a display of good news among humankind, whose fragrance was sweet;
A herald of glad tidings in the world, its diffusion is pure
And within its folds joy appears and spreads.
In its folds, joy and bliss abound and unfurl
مَعالمsigns سَعدgood fortune طالَgrew long بِالعُرسsince the wedding عَهدهاtheir elapsed time
مَعالم سَعد طالَ بِالعُرس عَهدها
فَعادَso it returned لَهاto them عُرسa wedding جَديدnew مُكررrepeated
فَعادَ لَها عُرس جَديد مُكرر
Signs of good fortune, long since their last wedding,
Eras of fortune, with the wedding their span prolonged
So a new wedding has returned to them once more.
So for it, a new and repeated feast returned
فَياso, O أَحمَدAhmad, most praiseworthy الأَفعالin deeds بُشراكyour good news لَمhas not تَزلceased
فَيا أَحمَد الأَفعال بُشراك لَم تَزل
مَدىthroughout الدَهرtime بِالسَعدof good fortune الجَديدnew تبشرheralds
مَدى الدَهر بِالسَعد الجَديد تبشر
So, O Ahmad, most praiseworthy in deeds, your good news has never ceased
O Ahmad! Your deeds have always brought good news
Throughout time to herald fresh good fortune.
Through time, of an unprecedented fortune they tell
كَريمةa noble daughter بيتa house زفهاescorted her as a bride رائدthe guide الهَناbliss
كَريمة بيت زفها رائد الهَنا
لأكرمto the noblest بيتhouse بِالفَضائلfor virtues يذكرis spoken of
لأكرم بيت بِالفَضائل يذكر
A noble daughter of a house, led as a bride by the guide of bliss,
A noble house's bride, led by the guide of delight
To the noblest house, celebrated for its virtues.
To the most virtuous house, renowned for its merits
أَتَتshe came وَهلالand the crescent اليمنgood fortune فَوقabove جَبينهاher brow
أَتَت وَهلال اليمن فَوق جَبينها
يَلوحgleams وَعَنهاand from her كَوكَبthe star السَعدgood fortune يظهرappears
يَلوح وَعَنها كَوكَب السَعد يظهر
She came, with the crescent of good fortune above her brow,
She came, while the crescent of Yemen on her brow
Gleaming, while from her the star of good fortune appears.
Gleamed, and from it the star of fortune shone clear
فَأَبدَتso she revealed لَدىupon الإِقبالthe approach وجهاًa face مورخاًbearing a chronogram
فَأَبدَت لَدى الإِقبال وجهاً مورخاً
وَجيهاًnoble بِهِin it بَدرthe full moon السَعاداتjoys مسفرshining forth
وَجيهاً بِهِ بَدر السَعادات مسفر
So, on her approach, she revealed a face bearing a chronogram,
At the ceremony, she revealed a face chronicling
A noble one, in which the full moon of joys shines forth.
Glory, and through it, the full moon of fortunes beamed
