A gazelle whose smiling mouth illumined the depths of darkness.
With her smile, Rim lit up the dark night
And whenever he passed through the valley of love, he grew sweet.
And whenever she passed through the valley of love, she adorned it

When she glanced at me, while my heart remained inflamed
His glances said, 'We indeed hold sway over
She said, noticing me: “We are black over white gazelles.”

In my lifeblood and my inner being he planted his love,
In my soul and conscience, her love took root

And from passion's blaze he kindled a flame within it.
And whoever felt the flames of passion, she lit in him a spark
O lords, through whom the trace of strength has faded!
O masters, she taught them lessons of valor

They said: “Perhaps your body, the day we're apart, may heal
We shall visit it.' I said, 'O faithful ones—it is a stick.'
We will restore it.” I said: “O people of loyalty, return!

How many hearts have archers of separation struck!
And how many a lover they set out to destroy!
How many lovers have they sent to their doom!

Over the necks of humankind and the people they have indeed ruled.
They have ruled over people and the earth
Kings of beauty, they resolved to hunt the heart.
The kings of beauty were bent on hunting gazelles

So I said, 'You are kings, majestic in splendor.'
So I said: “You are kings whose prey is splendor.”
