غبwithdraw عَنfrom الكَونthe universe قَدindeed أَتاكَhas reached you البَلاغthe message
غب عَن الكَون قَد أَتاكَ البَلاغ
وَصفاand became serene الوَقتthe moment وَالشَرابand the drink مساغpalatable
وَصفا الوَقت وَالشَراب مساغ
Withdraw from the universe; the message has reached you.
The time has come, eloquence has reached you
And the moment has grown serene, and the drink is palatable.
Describing the time and drink pleasant
غالَgo to extremes فيin الحُبlove وَاطرحand cast off عَنكَfrom yourself قَوماًa people
غالَ في الحُب وَاطرح عَنكَ قَوماً
عَنfrom طَريقthe path السَدادof rectitude وَالحَقand truth زاغواthey strayed
عَن طَريق السَداد وَالحَق زاغوا
Go to extremes in love, and cast off those
Be lost in love, and leave those
Who have strayed from the path of rectitude and truth.
Who strayed from the path of righteousness
غلهمtheir rancor غالهمruined them فَمهماso whenever تبدىappeared
غلهم غالهم فَمهما تبدى
منهلa watering place عَنfrom شرابهits drink العَذبthe sweet راغواthey turned away
منهل عَن شرابه العَذب راغوا
Their rancor ruined them; so whenever there appeared
Their blindness blinded them, no matter how it appeared
A watering place, they turned away from its sweet drink.
They strayed from its sweet drinking fountain
غفلواthey were heedless عَنof حَبيبهمtheir beloved فَلِهَذاso for this reason
غفلوا عَن حَبيبهم فَلِهَذا
قَدindeed وَهىhas weakened عَزمَهُمtheir resolve وَطاشَand reeled الدِماغthe mind
قَد وَهى عَزمَهُم وَطاشَ الدِماغ
They were heedless of their beloved; for this reason
They forgot their beloved, and so
Their resolve has weakened, and their minds have reeled.
Their resolve weakened, their minds scattered
غنsing وَامدحand praise إِذاwhen مَدحتyou praise نَبياًa prophet
غن وَامدح إِذا مَدحت نَبياً
حُبهlove for him فيin القوىthe faculties لَهُit has أَفراغan outpouring
حُبه في القوى لَهُ أَفراغ
Sing and extol when you praise a prophet:
Sing and praise, when you praise a prophet
Love for him has an outpouring within the faculties.
Whose love is poured into people's hearts
غايةthe height الفَوزof triumph وَالسعادةand happiness مِنهُfrom him
غاية الفَوز وَالسعادة مِنهُ
قَدindeed أَتتناhas reached us إِذfor كانَwas مِنهُfrom him البَلاغthe message
قَد أَتتنا إِذ كانَ مِنهُ البَلاغ
The height of triumph and happiness from him
The pinnacle of success and joy comes from him
Has reached us, for from him came the message.
Since eloquence came from him
غَنيةsufficiency الطالِبينof the seekers كنزa treasure المَعاليof lofty virtues
غَنية الطالِبين كنز المَعالي
حليةan ornament قَدindeed أَجادَهاfashioned it skillfully الصواغthe goldsmith
حلية قَد أَجادَها الصواغ
The seekers' sufficiency, a treasure of lofty virtues,
The treasure of seekers, gem of sublimities
An ornament the goldsmith has fashioned to perfection.
An ornament that the artisan perfected
غَيرnot بدعa novelty إِذاwhen مَدَحتyou praise رَسولاًa messenger
غَير بدع إِذا مَدَحت رَسولاً
بِثناهin his praise أَهلthe dwellers السَماءof heaven تَناغواsang in harmony
بِثناه أَهل السَماء تَناغوا
It is no wonder when you praise a messenger
No innovation when praising the Messenger
In whose praise the dwellers of heaven sang in harmony.
The inhabitants of heaven vie in his praise
غالبvictorious غافرforgiving تَقيpious نَقيpure
غالب غافر تَقي نَقي
ظاهرevident فيin وضوئهhis ablution أَسباغthorough completion
ظاهر في وضوئه أَسباغ
Victorious, forgiving, pious, pure—
Victorious forgiver, devout and pure
Thoroughness is evident in his ablution.
Manifest in his complete ablution
غفرmay forgive اللَهGod زلتيmy lapse وَحَبانيand favor me
غفر اللَه زلتي وَحَباني
بِمَديحيthrough my praise لَهُof him فَفيهِfor in his honor يُصاغit is wrought
بِمَديحي لَهُ فَفيهِ يُصاغ
May God forgive my lapse and favor me
May God forgive my sin and grant me
Through my praise of him; for in his honor it is wrought.
