درflowed with milk ثَديbreast الوِصالunion عِندَat الورودarrival
در ثَدي الوِصال عِندَ الورود
فَشَرِبناso we drank وَغابَand vanished كُلevery حَسودenvious person
فَشَرِبنا وَغابَ كُل حَسود
The breast of union flowed upon our arrival.
In the bosom of union, at the meadows,
So we drank, and every envious one vanished.
We drank while every envier disappeared.
دامَendured عزhonor لَناfor us وَدامand endured فَخارglory
دامَ عز لَنا وَدام فَخار
إِذwhen سَمَوناwe rose high بِأَحمَدthrough Ahmad المَحمودthe praised one
إِذ سَمَونا بِأَحمَد المَحمود
Honor endured for us, and glory endured,
May glory endure for us and pride persist,
When we rose high through Ahmad, the praised one.
Since we aspired to Ahmad, the Praised.
دانsubmitted كُلall الوَرىcreation لَهُto him وَاستَقَلتand rose aloft
دان كُل الوَرى لَهُ وَاستَقَلت
لِمَعاليهof his exalted virtues شاهِقاتlofty الحُدودthe bounds
لِمَعاليه شاهِقات الحُدود
All creation submitted to him, and rose aloft
The whole world submitted to him,
The lofty bounds of his exalted virtues.
And for his greatness, the limits bowed.
دمرhe destroyed الشركidolatry بِالقَناwith lances وَالمَواضيand keen blades
دمر الشرك بِالقَنا وَالمَواضي
مِنfrom ليوثlions وَفتيةand young men كَالأُسودlike lions
مِن ليوث وَفتية كَالأُسود
He destroyed idolatry with lances and keen blades
He destroyed polytheism with spears and meadows,
Of lions and young men like lions.
With young lions and brave youth like black lions.
دارrevolved فيin غَيهبdeep darkness الزَمانtime ضياهhis radiance
دار في غَيهب الزَمان ضياه
فَهوَfor he is البَدرthe full moon فيin اللَياليthe nights السودblack
فَهوَ البَدر في اللَيالي السود
His radiance revolved in the deep darkness of time;
He appeared during the darkness of time as a bright moon in the dark nights.
For he is the full moon on dark nights.
The mind was amazed at the attributes of a prophet,
دهشwas bewildered العَقلthe mind مِنby صفاتqualities نَبيa prophet
دهش العَقل مِن صفات نَبي
شابَgrew gray مِنfrom خَوفهhis fear بِسورةbecause of Surah هودHud
شابَ مِن خَوفه بِسورة هود
The mind was bewildered by the qualities of a prophet
Who was distressed by Surat Hud in his youth out of fear.
Who grew gray with fear because of Surah Hud.
I have weakened in battles for his sake,
دميتwas bloodied فيin مَعاركbattles الحَربwar مِنهof his
دميت في مَعارك الحَرب مِنه
قَدمa foot قَدalready تَمَكنتhad become firmly established فيin السُجودprostration
قَدم قَد تَمَكنت في السُجود
Bloodied in the battles of war was his
While my feet firmly stood in prostration.
Foot, which had been firmly planted in prostration.
Without him, souls became humiliated but,
دونهfor his sake هانَتbecame of little worth النُفوسlives وَلَكنyet
دونه هانَت النُفوس وَلَكن
أَصبَحَتthey became منbecause of غَرامهlove for him فيin قُيودchains
أَصبَحَت من غَرامه في قُيود
For his sake, lives were held cheap, yet
Out of passion for him, they became shackled.
They became bound in chains by love for him.
The pearl of her Lord wanted to meet Him,
دُرةa pearl رَبِهاits Lord أَرادَdesired لقاهاmeeting it
دُرة رَبِها أَرادَ لقاها
لِيُباهيso he might boast بِهاof it جَميعall الوجودexistence
لِيُباهي بِها جَميع الوجود
A pearl whose Lord desired to meet it,
To boast with her to all existence.
To boast of it before all existence.
