يريد خيانتي وهب وأرجو

يريد خيانتي وهب وأرجو

من اللَه البراءة والأَمانا

من اللَه البراءة والأَمانا

Wahb seeks to betray me, and I hope

He wants to betray me, and Wahb seeks

For vindication and safety from God.

From Allah, vindication and safety.

فَإِنَّ اللَهَ يَعلَمُني وَوهباً

فَإِنَّ اللَهَ يَعلَمُني وَوهباً

وَيَعلَمُ أَن سَنَلقاهُ كِلانا

وَيَعلَمُ أَن سَنَلقاهُ كِلانا

For God knows me and Wahb,

Indeed, Allah knows me and Wahb,

And knows that we shall both meet Him,

And knows we will both meet Him.

وَأَنَّ بَني رَبيعَةَ بَعدَ وَهبٍ

وَأَنَّ بَني رَبيعَةَ بَعدَ وَهبٍ

كَراعي البَيتِ يَحفَظُهُ فَخانا

كَراعي البَيتِ يَحفَظُهُ فَخانا

And that the sons of Rabiʿah, after Wahb,

And Banu Rabi'ah after Wahb,

Are like a house's keeper, who guards it, then proves treacherous.

Like caretakers of the house, will guard it if he betrays.

وَلَكِنَّ الدُحولَ إِذا أَتاها

وَلَكِنَّ الدُحولَ إِذا أَتاها

عجافُ المالِ تَترُكُهُ سِمانا

عجافُ المالِ تَترُكُهُ سِمانا

Yet the hollows, when they are reached

But the cattle, when visited by

By lean livestock, leave them fat.

Dry years, leave it thin.
