خاطِر بِنَفسِكَ كي تُصيبَ غَنيمَةً
إِنَّIndeed الجُلوسَsitting مَعَwith العِيالِdependents قَبيحُshameful
إِنَّ الجُلوسَ مَعَ العِيالِ قَبيحُ
Risk your life to win spoils.
Keep thoughts to yourself if you want a prize
Indeed, sitting with one's dependents is shameful.
Sitting around with family is ugly
فَالمالُFor wealth فيهِin it تَجِلَّةٌreverence وَمَهابَةٌand awe
فَالمالُ فيهِ تَجِلَّةٌ وَمَهابَةٌ
وَالفَقرAnd poverty فيهِin it مَذَلَّةٌhumiliation وَقُبوحُand ugliness
وَالفَقر فيهِ مَذَلَّةٌ وَقُبوحُ
For in wealth lie reverence and awe.
Money has glory and awe
And in poverty lie humiliation and ugliness.
Poverty has disgrace and ugliness
