بَيانُa clear account الحَقِّthe truth إِنif صَدُقَis true الكَلامُthe report
Have you not seen that from Jamrah there has come
Have you not seen that a burning coal came
A clear account of the truth, if the report is true?
from which the truth became clear if the words were true
نَعاهاhe announced her death بِالبَديعِat al-Badīʿ لَناto us حِزامٌḤizām
أَحَقُّis it true? ماwhat يَقولُhe says لَناto us حِزامُḤizām
Ḥizām announced her death to us at al-Badīʿ;
He eulogized it for us, loin cloth
Is what Ḥizām tells us true?
The most rightful thing the loin cloth says to us
فَلاso may she not تَبعُدbe far away وَقَدand indeed بَعّدَتshe has driven far away وجدىmy grief
عَلىover قَبرٍa grave تَضَمَّنَهاit held her الغَمامُthe clouds
So may she not be far away, though she has driven my grief far away [wording unclear].
So do not go far away when you have sent my fervor
The clouds are over a grave that holds her.
to a grave covered by clouds
