لاdo not تَغضَبَنَّbe angry (emphatic) عَلىwith اِمرِئٍa man فيregarding مالِهِhis wealth
لا تَغضَبَنَّ عَلى اِمرِئٍ في مالِهِ
وَعلىand over كَرائِمُthe choicest possessions صُلبِthe core of مالِكَyour wealth فَاِغضَبِthen be angry
وَعلى كَرائِمُ صُلبِ مالِكَ فَاِغضَبِ
Do not be angry with a man over his wealth.
Do not get angry at a man for his wealth,
But be angry over the choicest of your own principal assets.
And for the generous spending of his money get angry.
وَإِذاand if تُصِبكَbefalls you خَصاصَةٌpoverty فارجُthen hope for الغِنىprosperity
وَإِذا تُصِبكَ خَصاصَةٌ فارجُ الغِنى
وَإِلىand toward الَّذيthe one who يُعطيbestows الرَغائِبَthe prized gifts فَاِرغَبِthen direct your longing
وَإِلى الَّذي يُعطي الرَغائِبَ فَاِرغَبِ
And if poverty befalls you, hope for prosperity.
And if poverty strikes you, hope for prosperity,
And direct your longing toward the one who bestows prized gifts.
And to the One who grants wishes turn hopefully.
