فَبَهراًso, woe لِمَنto whoever غَرَّتdeceived صَحيفَةُletter مُنذِرٍMundhir
فَبَهراً لِمَن غَرَّت صَحيفَةُ مُنذِرٍ
وَإِنand even if كانَthere was عَقدٌa band مِنهُمُof them مُتَظاهِرُmutually supporting
وَإِن كانَ عَقدٌ مِنهُمُ مُتَظاهِرُ
So woe to whoever Mundhir’s letter deceived,
So wonders to whoever was deceived by a warner's scroll,
Even if a band of them supported one another.
Even if a group of them feigns defiance,
لَقَدindeed كانَthere were فيكُمamong you لَوif وَفَيتُمyou had kept faith لِجارِكُمwith your neighbor
لَقَد كانَ فيكُم لَو وَفَيتُم لِجارِكُم
لِحىًbeards وَرِقابٌand necks عَردَةٌthick and strong وَمَناخِرُand nostrils
لِحىً وَرِقابٌ عَردَةٌ وَمَناخِرُ
There would indeed have been among you—had you kept faith with your neighbor—
Indeed, among you - had you been faithful to your neighbor -
Beards, stout necks, and nostrils.
Were beards, obstinate necks, and snouts.
