The people of the sanctuary have lodged

Heartache in my heart, and bid farewell.

So tell my reproachers: reproach me

    After their departure—or desist.

They have departed: will their nearness

    Return after separation?

Or have we, in their return

    To the dwellings, any hope?

I am reminded of their days

    By a cooing dove.

So I turn away, while drenched

In my tears are the dwellings.

And for the dwelling and remembrance, there is nothing

    But tears.
