Blessed is our attendant, who bent over a moon,
Blessed is he who gently unveiled
Wiping the blemishes from its face with his palm;
the new moon from behind the veil of mist,

Or a pearl hidden in its secluded chamber, so he began
Or a pearl that once lay hidden in its shell
Gently to break the shell away from its radiance.
till he kindly brought forth its light from the casket
