وَالحُكمُ في عَكسِ قَصدي مِنهُم اِطِّرَدوا
They are my desire—why, then, have they turned away from me?
They are my desire, so why have they grown weary of me?
And their judgment has consistently run counter to my intent.
Yet their judgment runs counter to my purpose with them.

هَذا وَقَد قَرُبوا مِنّي فَلَم بَعَدوا
Nor have I committed any wrong that would trouble them [final word uncertain].
No harm from them has touched me closely.
This, though they had drawn near me—why, then, did they draw away?
This, when they have drawn near me, and not fled.
زارواthey visited اِختِيالاًswaggering بِزَورِthrough the falseness of الوَعدِthe promise ليto me أَسَرواthey captured

قَلبي لِذا أَخلَفوني كُلَّما وَعَدوا
They visited, swaggering; through false promises to me they captured
They came to me falsely, with lying promises.
My heart; thus they broke their word to me whenever they promised.
So my heart - because they have failed me whenever they promised -

And the two of them awakened my anguish after its slumber,
And my sorrows awakened after their slumber,
Until, when my passion for them rose, they sat down.
Until when my love stood up, I found them sitting.
