ذِكرُremembrance الفَتىthe young man آيَةُa sign of نِسيانِهِhis forgetting
ذِكرُ الفَتى آيَةُ نِسيانِهِ
وَشَوقُهُand his longing عُنونُa token of هِجرانِهِhis separation
وَشَوقُهُ عُنونُ هِجرانِهِ
The young man's remembrance is a sign of his forgetting;
The youth's mention is a sign of his being forgotten
and his longing is a token of his separation.
And his longing is a title of his estrangement
وَلَيسَand is not بِالكاتِمِone who conceals سَرَّthe secret of الهَوىlove
وَلَيسَ بِالكاتِمِ سَرَّ الهَوى
مَنhe who عَرَّفَmade aware الناسَthe people بِكِتمانِهِof his concealment
مَن عَرَّفَ الناسَ بِكِتمانِهِ
And he does not conceal the secret of love
And he who makes known to people the secret of his love
who makes people aware of his concealment.
Is not one who conceals the passion within him
