نِهايَةُthe height of الجَهلِignorance اِجتِهادُstriving الفَتىthe young man
نِهايَةُ الجَهلِ اِجتِهادُ الفَتى
فيin كَسبِearning ماwhat يُنفِقُهُhe spends it غَيرُهsomeone other than him
في كَسبِ ما يُنفِقُهُ غَيرُه
The height of ignorance is a young man's striving
The end of ignorance is a young man's effort
to earn what someone else spends.
To earn what others spend.
وَشَرُّand the worst حالِstate of المَرءِa person فيin نَفسِهِhimself
وَشَرُّ حالِ المَرءِ في نَفسِهِ
أَنthat يَتَعَدّىgoes beyond نَفسَهُhimself خَيرُهhis good
أَن يَتَعَدّى نَفسَهُ خَيرُه
And a man's worst state, as regards himself,
The worst state for a man regarding himself
is for his good to pass beyond himself.
Is when his self exceeds his good.
