تَخُصُّهُ إِلّا بِرَأيِ العَوامِ
The dullest of humankind is he who does not find his soul
The silliest of mankind is he who finds
to be his own except through the common folk's opinion.
Himself represented only by mob opinion.

يُحاوِلُ الحَقَّ بِعِلمِ الكَلامِ
And farthest of all creatures from the truth is he
And farthest from truth is he who tries
who seeks the truth through dialectical theology.
To reach truth through theological opinion.

Rather, seek it by tracing the inward meaning from an outward form
Rather, by following the inward spirit of outward forms
that God sent down as guidance for humankind.
Sent down by God to guide all humanity.
