حينَ أَلقى سَمعي شَهيدُ عِياني
Remembering my Lord made me forget all but Him,
My remembrance of my Lord is made pleasant by others
When the witness of my vision cast my hearing aside.
When my hearing encounters the witness of my insight

And whatever grew sweet to me did so through your might,
And my pleasures are by Your might, however pleasurable they may be
Through my ascent to my lofty station.
By my ascension to the place above me
