لِقَلبيfor my heart عَنaway from مُطاوَعَةِcompliance with اللَواحيthe reproachers
لِقَلبي عَن مُطاوَعَةِ اللَواحي
عَلىover وَلَهيmy lovesick yearning إِذاwhen نَصَحواthey offer counsel نُشوزُrebellion
عَلى وَلَهي إِذا نَصَحوا نُشوزُ
My heart rebels against heeding the reproachers
My heart refuses to obey the censures
when they counsel me about my lovesick yearning.
Of those who advise against my infatuation
وَأَهوىand I desire فيin مَحَبَّتِكُمlove for you تُلافيmy ruin
وَأَهوى في مَحَبَّتِكُم تُلافي
وَماand not تَلَفيmy ruin عَلىfor كَلَفيmy ardent passion عَزيزُdear; costly
وَما تَلَفي عَلى كَلَفي عَزيزُ
And I desire my own ruin in loving you;
And I am enamored with loving you all
nor is my ruin too dear a price for my passion.
Not even what's difficult is too dear for me
أَياO مَنthose who ضَيَّعواthey neglected عَهديmy covenant وَعِنديand I have
أَيا مَن ضَيَّعوا عَهدي وَعِندي
لِحِفظِto preserve عُهودِهِمtheir covenants حَرِزٌa refuge حَريزُwell-guarded
لِحِفظِ عُهودِهِم حَرِزٌ حَريزُ
O you who have neglected my covenant, while I have
Oh you who broke their promise and pact with me
a well-guarded refuge to preserve their covenants.
While keeping their promises is well-guarded
رَمَزتُI expressed in symbols صَبابَتيmy longing بِكُمُfor you وَدَمعيand my tears
رَمَزتُ صَبابَتي بِكُمُ وَدَمعي
تُحَلُّare deciphered بِهِthrough it لَعُذّاليfor my reproachers الرُموزُthe symbols
تُحَلُّ بِهِ لَعُذّالي الرُموزُ
I expressed my longing for you in symbols, and my tears
I hinted with my youthfulness and tears for you
unravel those symbols for my reproachers.
With it, symbols dissolve for my tormentors
