My gaze into the clear surface shows me another than myself—
My gaze into clarity revealed to me what is hidden
as me, yet other than me—contrary to reality.
from me, and what is other than me, contrary to their actual state;
مِثلَjust like ماwhat فيin المِرآةِthe mirror أَشهَدُI witness مِنof خَلbeginning of خَلفي: behind me
مِثلَ ما في المِرآةِ أَشهَدُ مِن خَل
فيcompletion of خَلفي: behind me أَماميbefore me وَعَنand on يَمينيmy right شِماليmy left

Just as, in the mirror, I behold what lies behind—
Just as in a mirror I see what is behind
—me before me, and, on my right, my left.
me before me, and on my right, my left.

Yet it has not been transformed, nor have there dwelt within it
