I am not possessed of rapture if
I'm not one to despair when
I find hurt in love.
I find love's pain.

The lover is one who grows, through the torment
Is not the lover made happier
of passion, in delight;
By the bliss of passion's union?

For no lover is a man
One who feels no passion
of ardent longing who is not like this.
Is no lover, this is not so.
