فَرضُ المَحَبَّةِ وَدُّ شيعَةِ حُبِّكُم

فَرضُ المَحَبَّةِ وَدُّ شيعَةِ حُبِّكُم

عِندي وَسُنَّتُهُ قِلى العُذّالِ

عِندي وَسُنَّتُهُ قِلى العُذّالِ

Love’s obligation is affection for those devoted to loving you,

in my view; and its customary practice is hatred of reproachers.

فَلِذا اِدَّرَعتُ كُلِّ مُعانِدٍ

فَلِذا اِدَّرَعتُ كُلِّ مُعانِدٍ

لِيَ فيكُمُ وَوَلاءَ كُلِّ مَوالي

لِيَ فيكُمُ وَوَلاءَ كُلِّ مَوالي

Thus I have armored myself with [hatred of] every adversary

of mine on your account, and loyalty to every ally.
