أَراني بِها هُدبَ عَيني عَذارا
The polished sheen of the sides of the beloved’s face
Polishing the tales of my beloved's face
Showed me my eyelashes reflected there as cheek-down.
Makes my eyes shed tears plentifully

ظِرَ في ماءِ خَدَّيهِ نارا
And the enchanter of his eyelids made the gazing
And the magic of his eyelids bear witness
Eyes behold fire in the water of his cheeks.
To the fire I see reflected in his cheeks
