ياO راقِداًone asleep فيin جَهلِهِhis ignorance
يا راقِداً في جَهلِهِ
مِنfrom رَقدِthe slumber of الجَهلِignorance اِنتَبِهawaken
مِن رَقدِ الجَهلِ اِنتَبِه
O sleeper in his ignorance,
O sleeper in his ignorance
Awaken from the slumber of ignorance.
Awake from the slumber of ignorance
وَاِعمَلand act عَلىaccording to ماwhat يَقتَضيrequires
وَاِعمَل عَلى ما يَقتَضي
عِلمُكَyour knowledge فيماconcerning what دِنتَyou professed belief بِهin it
عِلمُكَ فيما دِنتَ بِه
And act according to what is required
And act as your knowledge demands
by your knowledge of what you profess as faith.
In that to which you are religiously committed
وَجانِبِand avoid التَقصيرِfalling short فيin الدَthe reli- (start of 'religion')
وَجانِبِ التَقصيرِ في الدَ
ينِ-gion (end of 'religion') وَخَفand fear مِنfrom عُقَبِهits consequences
ينِ وَخَف مِن عُقَبِه
And avoid falling short in reli-
And avoid negligence in religion
