زَعَمواthey claimed أَنَّthat كُلَّevery مَنone who أَعمَلَexercised الرَأيَjudgment
زَعَموا أَنَّ كُلَّ مَن أَعمَلَ الرَأيَ
وَأَخطَأَand erred بِهِthrough it يَنالُreceives الثَواباthe reward
وَأَخطَأَ بِهِ يَنالُ الثَوابا
They claimed that everyone who exercised judgment
They claimed all who employ reason
and erred through it receives a reward.
And err through it receive reward.
وَعَلىand on the basis of ذاthis فَكُلُّthen every مُجتَهِدٍindependent reasoner أَخطاerred بِعَينِthrough the very
وَعَلى ذا فَكُلُّ مُجتَهِدٍ أَخطا بِعَينِ
الخَطاerror أَصابَattained الصَواباwhat is right
الخَطا أَصابَ الصَوابا
And on this basis, every independent reasoner who erred, through that very
So by that eye each diligent soul
error, attained what is right.
Who misses truth finds just reward.
