بِنُطقِwith the speech of سَمعيmy hearing جَرىflowed لِسانيmy tongue
وَعَنand from فُؤاديmy heart رَوىrecounted عَيانيmy direct vision
My tongue flowed with the speech of my hearing.
My tongue flowed with my hearing,
And my vision recounted what came from my heart.
And my inner heart narrated to my eyes.
وَفيand in خَفاهُhis concealment عَنّيfrom me إِلَيهِto him
لَمّاwhen بَدىhe appeared ليto me مِنّيfrom me دَعانيhe called me
And in his concealment from me, to himself,
And He called me to Him,
when he appeared to me from within me, he called me.
When He appeared to me from me, though hidden from me before.
فَصارَso became بَسطُthe unfolding of الوَرىall creatures بِقَبضيin my grasp
وَالخُلُقُand character وَالأَمرُand command فيin كِيانيmy being
So the unfolding of all creatures lay in my grasp.
So the expanse of the earth became grasped in my palm,
And character and command are within my being.
And creation and command became my essence.
فَلاso no وُجودٌexistence سِوىexcept وُجوديmy existence
وَكُلُّand every باقٍenduring thing سِواهُbesides it فانِperishing
So there is no existence but my existence,
So there is no existence except my existence,
and all that endures besides it is perishing.
And all that remains other than it is transient.
لِلناسِfor people عَنfrom مَشهَديmy witnessing مَغيبٌabsence
أَضَلَّهُمled them astray عَنfrom هُدىthe guidance of بَيانيmy exposition
People are absent from my witnessing;
People are veiled from witnessing me,
that absence led them astray from the guidance of my exposition,
Misguided from the guidance of my lucidity,
إِذfor بِالأَساميthrough names أَرواthey displayed اِختِصاصاًdistinction
لِماbecause تَخَصَّصتُI became distinguished بِالمَعانيthrough meanings
for through names they displayed distinction,
Since with names they saw specificity,
because I became distinguished through meanings.
To what I had specified through meanings.
