قالوا أَشِر رَمزاً مَعنى الهَوى
إِنif لَمnot تَكُنyou are بِصَريحِهِin its explicit form مُتَلَفِّظاspeaking
إِن لَم تَكُن بِصَريحِهِ مُتَلَفِّظا
They said, 'Hint symbolically at the meaning of love,
They asked me to give a symbol for love's meaning
if you do not speak of it plainly.'
If I were not speaking it outright
قُلتُI said اِختِباريmy experience فيهِin it غادَرَنيleft me بِهِwith it
قُلتُ اِختِباري فيهِ غادَرَني بِهِ
مُستَودِعاًa trustee وَلِسِرِّهِand of its secret مُستَحفِظاa trusted guardian
مُستَودِعاً وَلِسِرِّهِ مُستَحفِظا
I said, 'My experience of it has left me with it,
I said, "My testing of it has left me with it
a trustee, and charged with guarding its secret.'
As a treasure, and for its secret, a keeper."
