بُعداً لَقَومٍ جَهلُهُم جَهلُ ذي ال

بُعداً لَقَومٍ جَهلُهُم جَهلُ ذي ال

عِلَّةِ في العِلمِ بِمَعلولِها

عِلَّةِ في العِلمِ بِمَعلولِها

Away with a people whose ignorance is that of one possessing the

Away with a people whose ignorance is the ignorance

cause, concerning knowledge of its effect.

Of one who is diseased in his knowledge of causes,

وَلا يَصِحُّ العِلمُ مِن عالِمٍ

وَلا يَصِحُّ العِلمُ مِن عالِمٍ

بِجُملَةٍ إِلّا بِتَفصيلِها

بِجُملَةٍ إِلّا بِتَفصيلِها

Nor is a knower's knowledge sound

For knowledge is not sound in one who is a knower

of a whole, except through its details.

Of things in gross, but only in one who knows their details.
