وَهابَهُ الدَهرُ في اِبنِ حامد
Woe to Time! What a calamity!
Alas, what calamity has befallen the era,
And Time feared it in Ibn Hamid.
And what misfortune has the era suffered in the son of Hamid!
قَدِindeed اِستَوىbecame equal الناسُthe people إِذwhen تَولّىhe departed
قَدِ اِستَوى الناسُ إِذ تَولّى
فَماso not تَرىyou see مَوقِفاًa place لِحامِدfor a praiser
فَما تَرى مَوقِفاً لِحامِد
Indeed, people became equal when he departed;
People became equals when he assumed authority,
So you see no place for a praiser.
Yet you see no stance taken by Hamid.

Three weep for his loss:
Three things weep for his loss:
Knowledge, asceticism, and praiseworthy qualities.
Knowledge, asceticism, and praises.
