إِذا ما جادَ بِالأَموالِ ثَنّى

إِذا ما جادَ بِالأَموالِ ثَنّى

وَلَم تُدرِكهُ في الجُودِ النَدامَه

وَلَم تُدرِكهُ في الجُودِ النَدامَه

Whenever he gives of his wealth, he gives again,

When he is generous with wealth, he repeats

and regret does not overtake him in his generosity.

And regret for liberality does not reach him

وَإِن هَجَسَت خَواطِرُهُ بِجَمعٍ

وَإِن هَجَسَت خَواطِرُهُ بِجَمعٍ

لِرَيبِ حَوادِثٍ قالَ النَدى مَه

لِرَيبِ حَوادِثٍ قالَ النَدى مَه

And if thoughts of amassing wealth stir within him

And if thoughts of hoarding cross his mind

against unpredictable misfortunes, Generosity says, “Stop!”

For fear of misfortunes, resolve says no
