فيin سَوادِthe darkness of الخُطوبِcalamities عَضبٌa keen sword صَقيلُpolished
في سَوادِ الخُطوبِ عَضبٌ صَقيلُ
The best thing the hand ever relied on for protection
The best thing grasped by the palm one day
in the darkness of calamities is a keen, polished sword:
In the darkness of misfortunes, a polished blade
عَنfrom سُؤالِbegging from اللِئامthe ignoble مغنٍsparing one the need
عَن سُؤالِ اللِئام مغنٍ

وَفي العَظمِ مُغن وَلِلمَنايا رَسولُ
it spares one the need to beg the ignoble,
Makes one independent of begging from the vile
and sings through bone, a messenger of death.
And in the bone a bold one, and for mortal events a messenger
