أَخٌa brother ليof mine أَماas for الودُّaffection مِنهُfrom him فَزائِدُso it increases
أَخٌ لي أَما الودُّ مِنهُ فَزائِدُ
وَأَلفاظُهُand his words بَينَamid الحَديثِconversation فَرائِدُrare pearls
وَأَلفاظُهُ بَينَ الحَديثِ فَرائِدُ
A brother of mine—his affection keeps growing;
And his words are rare pearls amid conversation.
إِذاif غابَhe is absent يَوماًone day لَمnot يَنُبstand in عَنهُin his place شاهِدٌanyone present
إِذا غابَ يَوماً لَم يَنُب عَنهُ شاهِدٌ
وَإِنand if شَهِدَhe attends اِرتاحَتtake delight إِلَيهِin him المَشاهِدُthe gatherings
وَإِن شَهِدَ اِرتاحَت إِلَيهِ المَشاهِدُ
If he is absent one day, no one present can take his place;
And if he attends, the gatherings delight in him.
