ظَبيٌa gazelle يَحارُis bewildered البَرقُthe lightning عَنbefore بَريقِهِhis brilliance
ظَبيٌ يَحارُ البَرقُ عَن بَريقِهِ
غَنيتُI had no need عَنof إِبريقِهِhis ewer بِريقِهِwith his saliva
غَنيتُ عَن إِبريقِهِ بِريقِهِ
A gazelle whose brilliance leaves lightning bewildered.
A gazelle, lightning shies from its brilliance
With his saliva, I had no need of his ewer.
I have no need for its jug, such is its radiance
فَلَمso did not أَزَلI cease أَرشفُI sip مِنfrom رَحيقِهِhis nectar
فَلَم أَزَل أَرشفُ مِن رَحيقِهِ
حَتّىuntil شَفيتُI healed القَلبَthe heart مِنof حَريقِهِits burning
حَتّى شَفيتُ القَلبَ مِن حَريقِهِ
So I kept sipping from his nectar,
I continue to imbibe its nectar
Until I healed the heart of its burning.
Until my heart is cured of its burning
