حَرارَةَthe heat أَحشائيmy innermost parts بِبَردِwith the coolness of رُضابِهhis saliva
حَرارَةَ أَحشائي بِبَردِ رُضابِه
I complained to him of love, seeking a cure
I complained of love to him, desiring his cure
For the heat in my depths through the coolness of his saliva.
The heat of my insides with the coldness of his rain
فَجادَso he gave generously بِبُخلٍwith stinginess وَهوَand it is مَوتٌdeath مُعَجَّلٌhastened
فَجادَ بِبُخلٍ وَهوَ مَوتٌ مُعَجَّلٌ
فَابدَيتُso I showed مُرتاداًseeking رِضاهُhis approval الرضاcontentment بِهwith it
فَابدَيتُ مُرتاداً رِضاهُ الرضا بِه
So he lavished stinginess—and that is a hastened death;
Yet he was miserly in his giving, though death was hastened
So, seeking his approval, I showed contentment with it.
So I feigned acceptance, pretending to be pleased with him
