Whoever keeps company with time will never be without its reversals.
Whoever accompanies time will not lack its vicissitudes
And among the thorns grow roses and myrtle.
And in it the thorns grow as well as the roses

It passes for a while, and its vicissitudes leave me untroubled.
It passes at times and its events become empty for me
For seldom have they wounded without turning back to heal.
Rarely has it wounded me except to fold its solace
