Slumber prevailed, and wine's mounts drew near,

And they yearned for the song of their faithful drivers.

So rouse the vigor of their weary and exhausted ones

With the singing of their driver, brother to eloquence,

So that lute may revive something of the custom of night travel

And bring the spirits back into the bodies,

So we may travel the paths of joy, finding our way

With their footsore mounts, by the stars of the goblets.
