1. يا مُتبِعَ الاكرام إِنعاما

    وَمُتبَعَ الانعام إِتماما

    O you who follow honor with bounty,

    and whose bounty is followed by completion,

  2. وَعادِلاً في الناس لَكِنَّه

    أَصبَح لِلأموال ظَلاما

    and just among people, yet he

    has become a tyrant toward wealth.

  3. قَرَنتَ في كَفَّك بحر النَدى

    بِصارِمٍ أَسكَنتَهُ الهاما

    You joined in your palm the sea of generosity

    with a keen sword you lodged in heads.

  4. وَجُمّعت فيكَ خِصال الوَرى

    وَحُزتَ آراءً وَإِقداما

    And humankind's qualities were gathered in you,

    and you possessed judgment and daring.

  5. فالمَوتُ وَالعَيشُ بيُمناك قَد

    صرّفت أَسيافاً وَأَقلاما

    So death and life are in your right hand; indeed, you have

    wielded swords and pens.

  6. أَثقَلتَ بالإِنعام ظَهري فَقَد

    أُفحِمتُ عَن شكركَ إِفحاما

    You weighed down my back with favors, so indeed

    I was rendered utterly speechless in thanking you.

  7. سَفَكتُ إِفضالاً دَمي كَي تُرى

    تَزيدَ في عُمرِكَ أَعواما

    I shed my blood as a kindness, so you may be seen

    adding years to your life.

  8. فاِسلَم لإِهراق دِماءِ العِدى

    ما طَرَدَ الإِصباحُ إِظلاما

    So remain safe to spill the blood of foes,

    as long as daybreak drives out darkness.
