كَأَنَّماas though ياسَمينُناour jasmine الغَضُّfresh
كَأَنَّما ياسَمينُنا الغَضُّ
كَواكِبٌstars فيin السَماءِthe sky تَبرُglitter
كَواكِبٌ في السَماءِ تَبرُ
It is as though our fresh jasmine
Our jasmine's tender green, it seems
Were stars glittering in the sky;
Like stars that stud the sky, serene
وَالطُرُقُand the streaks الحُمرُred فيin جَوانِبِهِits sides
وَالطُرُقُ الحُمرُ في جَوانِبِهِ
كَخَدِّlike the cheek of عَذراءَa maiden نالَهُtouched it العطرُthe perfume
كَخَدِّ عَذراءَ نالَهُ العطرُ
And the red streaks along its sides
While, freshly-dyed in blood, the rose's cheeks blush red,
Are like a maiden's cheek touched by perfume.
As if a virgin's with perfume they bled.
