غَفَرَmay forgive الرَحمانُthe All-Merciful ذَنباa sin تُواقِعُهْshe commits it
Umm al-Rabi‘ thinks we have grown weary;
Ah, may the All-Merciful forgive the sin she commits!
أَأَسأمُcould I tire of? ظَبياa gazelle فيin ضُلوعيmy ribs كِناسهُits lair
وَبَدرَand a full moon تَمامٍfullness فيin فُراديmy heart (reading فؤادي) مَطالِعُهْits rising places
Could I tire of a gazelle whose lair lies within my ribs,
And a full moon whose rising places lie in my heart,
وَرَوضَةَand a garden حُسنٍof beauty أَجتَنيI gather مِنfrom ثِمارِهاits fruits
وَبارِدَand cool ظَلمٍsaliva لَمnot تُكَدّرbe muddied شَرائِعُهْits watering places
And a garden of beauty whose fruits I gather,
And cool saliva whose watering places have not been muddied?
إِذاwhen سَئِمَتtires كَفّيmy hand نَوالاًbounty تُفيضُهُit pours it forth

Only when my hand tires of the bounty it pours
Upon those seeking its gifts, or of a foe it battles.
