اشرَبDrink الكأسَthe cup فيin وِدادlove ودادكْyour Widad
اشرَب الكأسَ في وِداد ودادكْ
وَتأنَّسand find comfort بِذِكرهاin remembering her فيin اِنفرَادكْyour solitude
وَتأنَّس بِذِكرها في اِنفرَادكْ
Drink the cup for love of your Widad,
Drink the cup in the love of your beloved
and find comfort in remembering her in your solitude.
And reminisce of her in your solitude
قَمَرٌa moon غابَvanished عَنfrom جُفونكyour eyelids مَرآimage
قَمَرٌ غابَ عَن جُفونك مَرآ
هُits وَسُكنَاهُand its dwelling فيin سَوادthe dark core فُؤادِكْyour heart
هُ وَسُكنَاهُ في سَواد فُؤادِكْ
A moon whose image has vanished from your eyelids,
A moon has set from your eyes for a while
and whose dwelling is in the dark core of your heart.
It has made its abode in the depths of your heart
