I saw your steed where the spears interlaced;
I saw your glance by the camphor tree
and to my eye it seemed a celestial sphere.
It seemed to me a shining planet bright
أَوَلَيسَand is not وَجهُكَyour face فَوقَهُabove it قَمَراًa moon
أَوَلَيسَ وَجهُكَ فَوقَهُ قَمَراً

يُجلى بنيِّرِ نُورهِ الحَلَكُ
And is not your face above it a moon,
Is not your face above a moon that sheds
by whose brilliant light the darkness is dispelled?
Its splendid rays and makes the dark take flight
