Three things kept her from visiting us—

for fear of the watcher and the spiteful envier:

the radiance of her brow, the whisper of her jewels, and what

her folds contain of fragrant ambergris.

Suppose she covers her brow with a fold of her sleeve,

and removes her jewels—what recourse has she against her sweat?
